Built in WordPress, this sample site is designed to demonstrate to clients how a content management system (CMS) works. The site’s pages are dynamically generated from a MySQL database and PHP files. Users can search for food-bearing trees in their neighborhoods, or log in to add new tree locations to the database.

Clients considering a site with a CMS can take this one for a test drive.

Village of Hope

Village of Hope

The challenge of this project was to design and build a simple, one-page site on a tight deadline and small budget.

The site has clean, well-annotated code with groundwork for later expansion. An intuitive, easy-to-use content management system allows the clients to update the page without knowledge of HTML or CSS.

The scope of the project included assisting the client with:

  • a content management system
  • setting up a hosting account
  • providing FTP access
